Coordinated buy signals, influencer payoffs, and exit timing across six tokens in Q2 2026 — an investigation into organised memecoin pump-and-dump networks.
The Networks
InvestorWatchdog has identified three interconnected Discord servers with a combined membership of over 180,000 users that coordinated pump-and-dump operations across six memecoin tokens in Q2 2026. The networks operated under the guise of “alpha groups” providing exclusive trading signals.
How the Scheme Worked
Organisers pre-purchased large positions in low-liquidity tokens before announcing “buy signals” to the group. The coordinated buying drove up prices, at which point organisers sold their positions. Retail members who bought in during the pump were left holding worthless tokens.
Influencer Involvement
At least seven crypto influencers with a combined following of 2.3 million received undisclosed payments to promote specific tokens at coordinated times. InvestorWatchdog has obtained payment records for three of these arrangements.
Regulatory Status
The SEC has opened investigations into two of the three Discord servers. The FCA has issued guidance warning UK investors about coordinated pump-and-dump schemes in crypto markets.
